What is a Batting?
Batting is composed of material such as cotton, wool, or fiberfill which is pressed and flattened on roll which can be bought by the yard or in precut lengths. Batting is often used for projects such as vests, placemats or quilts. An interesting fact about batting is the British terminology for batting is wadding.

What is a D-Ring?
A D-Ring is most often found in projects such as belt making, the creation of pocketbooks, and making corsets. The purpose of the D-Ring is to provide a ring to accept fabric or other materials for a handle or tie closure. The D-Ring is shaped like a D, hence the name D-Ring. The piece is typically constructed of metal or plastic.

What is a Bodice?
A bodice refers to the part of the pattern or the garment that goes from waist to shoulder. An example of this is a shirtwaist dress, which is pictured to the right of this description; it is the part of the garment which goes into the waistline (in most cases the bodice is the part on a shirtwaist dress with buttons) is considered the bodice. In the past bodices were detachable from the rest the garment.
