What is a Prick Stitch?

A prick stick is a stitch, which is used on fabric such as velvet where it is difficult to hide the stitch because everything is visible. To make a prick stitch simply create a small back stitch on the right side of the fabric and create the rest of the backstitching on the wrong side of the fabric.

What is Boning?

Boning are small thin piece of plastic, strips which are used in garment such as corsets and wedding gowns to create and a shape or fit. Boning is often found in haute couture garments to give the garment a shape specific to the designer vision. In the old days boning was created of whalebones hence the name of the object being called ‘boning.’

What is Bias Tape?

Bias tapes are strips of fabric cut on a bias; often-bias tape is pressed and turned under. Bias Tape is used for facings, bindings, or where there is a need for stretch. Most commonly found on the edge of a quilt or blanket.
